As the fight against the COVID-19 crisis in Liberia takes another dimension mainly through the massive rendering of assistance to needed organizations and communities by well-meaning people and groups respectively, A Son of 12th Street in Sinkor Augustus Wesseh shockingly put smiles on the faces of his community on Friday May 15, 2020.
Raul Gonzelez as he is popularly known in the area through his Foundation donated food and non-foods items to his people.
With shower of praises on him (Raul) as a result of his timely intervention to them, a Representative of Raul, Teddy W.S. Bryant presenting the items stressed that it was the Foundation own way of identifying with their people in such a crisis time.
He encouraged the people of 12th Street Community as always to follow all of the preventive health measures in order to remain safe during the crisis period.
Mr. Bryant assured the body that the Foundation will continue to be in vanguard of assisting people and other vulnerable groups in Liberia and beyond.
In separate remarks beneficiaries during the presentation greeted the gesture with joy and songs of praises.
“I am so surprise for Raul to do such a thing because other residents of 12th Street who left the Community before him for the diaspora to seek greener pasture did not do such a thing, we are very happy and go grateful to him, Let God bless he and his family, they all noted in a happy mood.
They promised to abide by all of the health protocols for the betterment of the Community and the residents in general.
Among the items donated were: Eleven Bags of 25 KGA Rice, one cartoon of Clorox and two cartoons of tie soap.
Meanwhile beneficiaries to include: The Optimist Thinkers Social and Athletic Club (OTSAC) where he once sat and exchange views and ideas on issues of national concerns, The 12TH Street Market women and the 12th Street COVID-19 task force all used the occasion to call on other citizens of 12th Street in Sinkor who are now in the diaspora to follow the good example of Raul and extend helping hands back home to their own people.
The Augustus Wesseh Foundation, is a non for profit non-political group in the vanguard of empowering youths and vulnerable groups as well as providing assistance to the needy at all times.
Education, Health, Sports and many others, are targeted sectors for the foundation.
Prior to his departure from Liberia, Augustus who now resides in Minnesota, the United States of America once worked at former Love Fm and Television as a sport and versatile journalist/ Reporter and also a former skillful midfielder.
Meanwhile, plans are said to be in the making for the Foundation to extend its humanitarian gesture to other places and groups respectively.
