(KATATA, Liberia) -The Nathaniel McGill Humanitarian Foundation in Collaboration with the office of Margibi County District #2 Representative, Ivar K. Jones, have donated building materials and food items to several storm victims in District #5 Margibi County.

Items donated include 30 bundles of zinc, six cartoons of zinc nails, 20 bags of rice (25kg) and two hundred United States dollars (US$200.00) to storm victims respectively.

The McGill Foundation is owned and operated by Liberia’s Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill.

Making the presentation on Wednesday June 10, 2020 in Weala, the Margibi district #2 Lawmaker said the donation is their own way of responding to the cry of the citizens who were victimized by the storm disaster recently.

Rep. Jones indicated that the gesture is intended to enable the affected District #5 residents to renovate their damaged homes.

He explained that when the disaster occurred nearly a week ago, Minister McGill informed him that the people he represents in Districts 3, 4 and 5 were hit by the storm disaster, as such, they needed to identify with them.

According to him, it was based upon that the Minister send the Land Administrator of Margibi County, Joe Dorah to carry out a survey in the affected areas something he said, was done, thereby leading to the donation.

“So we were able to make available 30 bundles of zinc, not just that we were able to make available six cartoons of zinc nails and then we were also able to bring the total of 20 bags of rice,” Rep. Jones said.

Hon. Jones pointed out that they could not just donate zinc to the storm victims without food and cash after being under the state of emergency which could not allow them to go out and find food for themselves.

For his part, the Commissioner of Cinta Township, Roland Johnson, expressed gratitude to Minister McGill and Representative Jones for their timely gesture.

Roland Johnson assured the Lawmaker that residents of the district will forever remember his efforts.

Meanwhile, victims of the recent storm disaster in Weala Margibi County have lauded Minister McGill and Rep. Jones for the donation.

They however called on other lawmakers in the county to do the same.

“We tell minister McGill and Rep. Jones think you, because we were dying, when the storm took away our zinc, there was no place for us to sleep. God will bless them especially Ivar Jones who come from District #2 to come identify with us in district #5,” the storm victims said.
