The Better Future Foundation (BFF) which is a peace-building and development organization has requested the Lofa Legislative Caucus for budgetary allocation for the Ziggida Public Health Center in the county.
The quest by the organization and other residents in the county according to them is consistent with their founding objective to promote reconstruction and development in local communities of Liberia.
The request for the legislative budgetary allocation is needed to aid grass-root community self-initiative project to cater to some health issues in their area.
The Project is named as the Ziggida Health Center located in Ziggida Town, Lofa County.
The construction has been initiated by the citizens of Ziggida Town with support and collaboration from other citizens of the Mano River Union (MRU) and ECOWAS member states residing in that part of the country.
According to the organization though its Founder and CEO Augustine Arkoi, the project is being backed by residing citizens in towns and villages along the border across the Republic of Guinea to have access to basic healthcare.
The institution wants the county legislative coccus chair by senator Stephen Zargo prudent intervention and swift legislative support through the County/District Developmental Found.
This, BFFI Chief Executive Officer noted, comes in the face of the unprecedented emerging global pandemics such as the COVID-19 and other diseases in Liberia and the world at large.
The organization is quoted by saying “it will interest you to know that with determination, commitment and resolve of citizens of Ziggida Town and its environs operating under the umbrella of Ziggida Development Association (ZDA), in Zorzor District, Lofa County, the construction of the public health center has reached window level”.
According to BFF, the lack of treatment facilities and the dire need to address increasing health problems have prompted the citizens and surrounding guinea citizens to construct a modern health facility costly estimated at $US 369,522.09.
The Better Future Foundation also confronted the Lofa County Legislative Coccus the need to construct a clinic is due to several premature deaths over the years due to lack of access to basic healthcare services in Ziggida, from where patients, mostly women and children are transported on foot for two hours and thirty minutes to Konia Garbo Clinic located on the highway between Zorzor and Voinjama.
Ziggida Development Association and Better Future Foundation at the same time said they are of the strongest conviction that the financial and logistical support to the health center will go a long way in protecting the basic rights of the citizens of Ziggida and other surrounding towns and villages.
If completed and operational, the organization noted, the Zggida Health Center will immensely contribute to the actualization of Government’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Lofa County Legislative Caucus Chairman Stephen Zargo on behave of his colleagues expressed gratitude to the organization for what he calls “remarkable step” that will meet their support.
According to Senator Zargo, the step taken by the people in the county is welcoming and assured them of their commitment to reach out to the senate chamber and Caucus to adhere to their plight.
