Margibi County Electoral District #1 Lawmaker, Representative Tibelrosa Summoh Tarponweh, has identified with marketers of the Duazon General Market that was recently gutted by fire and destroyed.
During the Lawmaker’s visit at the Market Friday, Rep. Tarponweh made a compassionate cash donation of four hundred thousand (400,000) Liberian Dollars to the affected market women.
The cause of the fire on the market building is yet to be established on thursday night at 7:56 PM which lasted for over 30-minutes before the arrival of the fire trucks from the Liberia National Fire Service.
Presenting the cash, Representative Tarponweh described his gesture as an initial contribution, promising to do more.
The Margibi County Lawmaker expressed his deepest regret over the fire incident and vowed to work with his colleagues and the marketers to ensure that the market is rebuild and things return to normal.
“Since this is our District, I thought to officially come and support you. I was here last night when the situation occurred. This is the most important work you do here. Our office is working with the National Disaster Management team to get that warehouse rebuild.
As an initial intervention, my office is here to present this little token of four hundred thousand (400,000) Liberian Dollars”, Rep. Tarponweh lamented as he presented the cash.
The marketers through their Secretary, Anthony Joe, expressed appreciation to their Lawmaker, terming his gesture as timely.
“Honorable TST( Tarponweh’s nick name), we are greatly appreciative for your supports towards us. We want to use this time to recognize your work within our District. We expected that you were going to come and do this. Evidence is your workings within our District. The Leadership of the market is delighted about your gesture”, Mr. Joe explained in a jubilant mood.
Since the occurrence of the devastating situation, it has claimed the attention of others through the calls extended to them by Representative Tarponweh.
Former House Speaker, Hon. J. Emmanuel Nuquay and Margibi County District #2 Lawmaker, Representative Ivar K. Jones individually contributed $1,000 US towards the situation, while former Lawmaker, Roland O. Cooper pledged $500 US.
The Duazon General Market is located in Duazon along the Roberts International Airport in District #1, Margibi County.
