PaSD Holds Three Days Women Conference in Margibi County


The Partnership for Sustainable Development (PaSD), with funding from the Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), through UN Women has begun a three day Women Conference under the theme “Enhancing Women Safety, Peace and Human Rights”.

The conference will afford women the opportunities to puffer recommendations aimed at enhancing their safety, peace and human rights  that will focus on promoting gender equality, women empowerment and ending violence against women and girls in Liberia.

The gathering is bringing face-to-face local government authorities and women from all sector of society including traditional, political parties,  civil society , Marketers ,communities amongst others to brainstorm on factors affecting them in society.

Speaking at the program on behalf of his boss, the Chief of Office Staffs in Representative Ellen Attoh, office Mr.  Freddie Zayzay , called for a halt to all forms of awful acts against women and girls, as he stressed the need for all citizens to join the campaign.

He then promised Hon. Attoh’s  unflinching support to women and girls’ empowerment in Margibi county and the country at large.

At the program, several issues were raised, including the surge in rape cases, violence against women and girls, full participation in decision making process amongst others.

The three days gathering according to our reporter, will also afford the women to meet with members and official of the County Legislative caucus , 2020 Senatorial candidates to discuss issues affecting them and derive at a statement that will puffer recommendations.

The ceremony is taking place at the Do Some Foundation in Kakata City, Margibi County and will run Thursday  October  28, 2020.
