President George Weah has broken ground for the construction of 100 Pro-poor housing units in the Marshansue community, Salala District, Bong County.
The modern housing units are to change the huts and under condition mud houses within the county.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, President Weah said, it pleases the CDC government to see Liberians live in 21st-century buildings with comfort.
President Weah alarmed that, living in huts and underdevelop structures are dangerous to the lives of his people.
He said it is riskier when the people will have to use the bushes to ease themselves, especially at night.
Mr. Weah informed the people of Bong County that the pro-poor housing units are his promise fulfilled to his people during his 2017 presidential campaign and his government way of making Liberians who can not afford to get a decent building, own a 21st-century one.
The Liberian leader re-reiterated his government’s commitment to changing the life of Liberians through road development, lights, houses among others.
The President also stated that Liberians will not be spectators in the development of their country, as he encouraged the people of Bong County to work with Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) for the construction of the pro-poor housing units.
Also speaking at the ceremony was the Executive Director of LACE, Pepci Yeheh.
He informed the media that, fifteen towns are expected to benefit from the President’s Pro-poor housing units.
He put the cost of the one hundred housing units at 1.5 million United States dollars, and the project is expected to take three months with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, Bong County Senator Henry Yallah, who is seeking a second chance said, he is grateful for the construction of houses for his people.
Mr. Yallah said he was glad that the President has shown the mark of reconciliation and unity among Liberians through development.
He warned those spreading false rumors that nothing like development will come to the county should put a stop to it.
He informed the people of Bong County that the Liberian leader is for all Liberians and is working in their interest.
Thanking the President for his developmental drive to his county, Senator Yallah stated that, the people of Marshansue community could not sleep to the pronouncement of the government Pro-poor housing units construction in their community.
He acknowledged that it is real and his people have seen that the Liberian leader is the President for all Liberians.
Bong County Representative Moima Briggs Mensah, also thanked the President for passing the housing units car into their county. She said she was pleased with the construction of the new houses. The law marker encouraged the people to take serious ownership of the project.
At the same time, the chief of Marshansue community thanked Mr. Weah for the new development and promised his people to support working with LACE and the contractors.
