GOVERNMENT OF LIBERIA BREAKS GROUND FOR BOPOLU HOSPITAL PROJECT

Groundbreaking ceremony for a hundred bed rooms modern facilities hospital has taken place in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County.

The facilities will include urgent care department, diagnostic center, operation theater, mother and child department, NICU and intensive care compartment as well as internal and pulmonology department, among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, the  Project Director and Consultant Dr. Rajeev Mangottil said, the construction of the health facility upholds humanitarian values and universal brotherhood cherished by the government of the United Arab Emirates and its commitment to the people of Liberia.

He said the project will be funded and  carryout by the  United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government  as a gift and goodwill gesture to Liberia in relation to bilateral ties subsisting between the two nations.

The  Bopolu Hospital project is part of the United Arab Emirates humanitarian agenda in making healthcare accessible to people living in rural regions of Liberia, Dr. Mangottil noted.

The 52,000 Sq. Ft. modern facilities according to Dr. Mangottil will take about 14 months to complete the construction of the hospital.

Breaking grounds on behalf of the government of Liberia, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of State For Presidential Affairs, Wesseh Blamo, commended the United Arab Emirates and its people for their support and commitment to Liberia.

He said the project came as part of President George Weah’s visit to the UAE and the relationship established between the two countries.

According to Hon. Blamo, the health of Liberians is very important to the president as such, the Liberian leader is making sure to have good health centers including hospitals for the Liberian people.

Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah thanked the UAE for the hospital project.

Dr. Jallah noted that, President Weah is  focusing on developing the health sector is commendable because it will improve the lives of his people.

She assured the people of Gbarpolu of more health workers in the County at the completion of the project as she also encouraged the residents of the county to work with the contractors.
