Margibi: LLA Launches Land Rights Act Awareness


The Liberia Land Authority (LLA), through its outreach communication awareness department with support from the County Administration in Margibi, Monday May 17, 2021 launched a  Nation wide awareness campaign in Kakata Margibi County.

The event which was held under the theme, “Ensuring Land Rights for All Liberians” brought together join security, the Media, Civil Society organizations, officials of government and citizens across the county.

Speaking at the lunching ceremony Monday, LLA Communication and Outreach officer Mr. Emmanuel Chedeh Davis said, the Nation’s wide awareness Campaign is funded by the World Bank through its Liberia Land Administration Project and will target fifteen Counties.

He explained that the government of Liberia through the Land Authority is marking all efforts to ensure that land conflicts are resolved throughout the country. “LLA mission is to ensure that all Land dispute are resolved throughout the country” Mr. Davis noted.

The Act establishing the Liberia Land Authority came to being in 2018 according to the Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority Atty J. Adams Manobah.

Manobah narrated that the Act was established in order to set up an independent body that will formulate and regulate a specialized criteria for the implementation of a standardized processes that leads to Land ownership and at the same time, to Support local leaders in mitigating Land matters across the Country.

Chairman Manobah however, named Margibi among the fifteenth political subdivisions of Liberia as a county with the highest Land conflict.

He further blamed the Court for intensifying Land conflict in the country.

“Our research has shown that Margibi county is the first county in Liberia with the highest land conflicts for now, next is Montserrado” He added.

For his part, Margibi County Inspector Moses Kpakanay Gbankpalah, lauded Liberia Land Authority for the launch of the outreach and awareness campaign in the County.

He mentioned that the County Administration under the leadership of Superintendent Jerry Varnie is prepared and in readiness to support the LLA outreach awareness program in the county.
