It was a scene of great joy and excitement as Yekepa-based Heaven Eleven football club were been coronated as champions of the Orange 2nd division league for the 2020-21 season.
This followed their incredible 1-0 win over Muscat FC at the EB Stadium in Yekepa on Friday, 11 June.
Kulah Gonloryon netted the only goal of the match to give the Mount Gangra Angels their triumphant victory.
Though the contest started on a very poor note with the first half ending on a dead-end as both sides fail to hit a single shot on target.
But, the second period was absolutely intriguing as desperate Heaven Eleven came back from recess more prepared.
It was not long when Gonloryon sneaked between Mandela Dolo and Alfred Harris and directed captain Nicolas Swen’s cross behind the gloves of goalkeeper Hamid with a breathtaking header just 2 minutes after the break.
Gonloryon’s lone goal was sufficient to secure them the vital 3 points which saw them being crowned champions of the second tier after three years in the league, one of the youngest clubs ever to win the title.
They were enthroned as the new champions taking over from BYC-ll who held the title since 2019.
The club will also play in the top-flight next season after five years of their existence, a very historic feat.
Heaven Eleven finished top of table with 60 points; they won 18 league games, recorded 6 draws and lost 2 times during the season.
They also won 14 clean sheets, the highest by a club this season.
A prize money of 700k Liberian Dollars was pocketed by the Mount Gangra boys for winning the league.
In another match-day action, defending champions BYC-ll defeated Keitrace 4-1 at the TUSA Field in Gardnersville, but that result only maintained them at the second spot on the table with 58 points.
Keitrace will face Ganta Almighty in the relegation play-offs.
Ganta Almighty were held to a frustrating nil-nil draw by relegated side, FC Fassell at the Gompa Sports Stadium in a dramatic final match-day action.
Stages recorded a remarkable 3-1 win over the church boys of Jubilee, but that result could not save them from relegation.
It was a goal raining match between Tony FC and Junior Pro at the Technical Center in Careysburg.
Junior Pro collected a whopping victory over Tony in a 15 goals thriller. They won 8-7.
At the ATS, Jai whipped Sandi 5-1. Despite the defeat, Sandi still remained at 3rd floor and they will take on Muscat in the promotional play-offs.
Gardnersville FC smashed Mighty Blue Angels 6-4 at the Nancy Doe Stadium in Kakata to move to safety.
They needed the 3 points to escape the relegation play-offs zone and surely it was secured.
