Some employees of the Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), are calling on President George Weah to dismiss the institution Board of Directors for being allegedly involved in acts of corruption.
The call follows days after President Weah suspended Managing Director Duannah Kamara and his Deputy of Finance, Sense Morris over allegations of corruption.
The aggrieved worker’s spokesperson Archie Saydee, alleged that the entire management of LWSC is involved in financial corruption as evidence by the leak recording and other shady deeds.
In the leak recording the managing Director and his financial officer is heard fussing over the transfer of huge some of money via the LBDI bank to an unknow account and for unspecific purpose.
Speaking at the weekend, Mr. Saydee stated that the LWSC under the Weah led-administration is the most corrupt entity, emphasizing the need for President Weah to dissolve the entire management.
The workers are crying for the payment of their eight months salary and have stage series of protest to draw government attention and find a redress.
President George Weah has with immediate effect suspended Duannah A. Kamara and Sensee J. Morris, Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) respectively.
The President suspended the pair on Thursday, June 10, 2021, following reports of disturbances and allegations of corruption at the LWSC.
According to the Executive Mansion, the Managing Director and his deputy shall remain suspended pending a full-scale investigation. President Weah has asked the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct an immediate investigative audit.
He mandated the GAC to report to him within 30 days. Meanwhile, LWSC’s Deputy Managing Director for Administration will act as interim head of the entity in consultation with the Chairman of the Board.
