Liberia’s Maritime Authority Commissioner General Leen Eugene Nagbe, is challenging recent Tubman University graduates to prepare for the future , stressing that higher education is one of the best options to making them self-reliance and contribute positively to society.
The Liberia’s Maritime Authority Commissioner General who give a vivid picture of the importance of education said, it is crucial towards Liberia’s rebuilding process, as the country fight to rebuild its human capacity sector.
Speaking under the theme “Developing Leaders for the Challenges of the 21th Century” He said the country is at a point where young people must take responsibilities aimed at meeting up with challenges which could be a block to building Liberia’s developmental sector.
“We all should empower the young people, most especially those that are graduating today from this noble University and other Universities in Liberia for a better future and to allow them breach the underdeveloped gap in Liberia.”
He justified that gone are the days where only certain individuals were pushing towards the peace and development of Liberia because they were the only educated people and no one could match them.
The LMA boss said in Liberia today, many youths are taking the challenge and getting involved into nation building and always willing to learn, something he believes will prepare them for future challenges.
Providing an opportunity for a graduating student, Mr. Nagbe who served as the 8th Commencement Speaker at the William VS Tubman University awarded a master’s degree scholarship to the Valedictorian of the Class.
According to Liberia’s Maritime Authority Commissioner General ,his guested was as a result of a request made by the University seeking opportunities for graduates of the University.
He indicated that the scholarship awarded was also in line with the cooperate social responsibility of the Maritime Authority. “As part of the Liberia Maritime authority cooperate social responsibilities, I m awarding master degree scholarship to the Valedictorian of this graduating Class, so as to prepare him for the feature in building our Country as we older people along can’t do it, but you young ones should take the responsibilities as well.”
The University 8th graduation Convocation was held on June 12, 2021 on the main Campus of the University on Saturday 12 June 202. The occasion was graced by some members of southeastern local and national authorities, to include Superintendents, Mayors, Commissioners, the University president Dr. D. Elliott Wreh-Wilson, Cabinet members, faculties, Tubman College -Tubman University Alumni Association, Harper District commissioner amongst others.
