Acting Public Works Minister Ruth Coker Collins has expressed disappointment of information in the public that the ministry has given land to Fulani, Mandingos, and Lebanese nationals within the Omega Community. She expressed that such false information in the public is to distract the ministry’s attention from doing its work. Hon. Collins challenged anyone with a piece of evidence to report the matter to the proper authority.
Minister Collins also said her ministry has not taken land belonging to the residence of the Omega Community in Paynesville and termed the information as deceptive. According to the minister, the land in question belongs to the Liberian government but encouraged those who have documents concerning ownership of said land should report to the Land Authority of Liberia.
It can be recalled that marketers were removed from the Red Light Market to the Omega community for business transactions early this year. The Omega Community land which is being used to construct market structures to accommodate marketers from the Red Light business center under the instruction of President Weah is nearing completion.
Minister Collins appealed to all who find the action of the Ministry of Public Works offensive to visit the Liberia Land Authority with their documents, instead of using some media institutions to derail the name of the ministry. She at the same time informed the public that two of the market structures are completed and the rest will be fully completed before the end of October 2021.
