Liberia’s former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on Liberians and those in Monrovia to take an active part in making sure the City of Monrovia and Liberia at large are clean and safe for all. She made the wake-up call when she visited Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee at the City Corporation in Monrovia.

According to former President Sirleaf, in order for the city to be clean, citizens are to start the cleaning from their respective homes, and it should catch the attention of everyone.

Pledging her support to the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) by soliciting funds, Madam Sirleaf on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, said, to have a clean and bright city is no magic, but the corporation of everyone starting from the various home and communities.

The former Liberian leader explained that MCC can do all to solve the waste problem but, if the people within Monrovia continue to go contrary to MCC operations, the situation will be the same story.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Jefferson Koijee thanked the former president for her visit and expressed that the visit was intended to pledge her support to work with MCC in keeping the city clean and conducive for residence in Monrovia according to the Smart Action for Smart City Strategy.

Mayor Koijee noted that Liberia’s former Leader wake-up call is very important to achieving a clean, green, and harmless city in accordance with the government PAPD.

It can be recalled the Head of the European Union Delegation to Liberia, Laurent Delahousse on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, made a wake-up call by stated that the City of Monrovia is the dirtiest he has visited when he visited the corporation.
