Liberia: MYS Releases 2021/22 National County Sports Meet Groupings


The Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially released groupings of 2021/2022 National County Sports Meet of Liberia.

The 2021/2022 National county Sports Meet will officially kick-off on 11 December this year with formal opening ceremony taking place in Kakata, Margibi County.

Since its inception in 1956, the tournament remained undoubtedly the most followed sporting festival in the country and has always been organized by the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Internal Affairs.

In the groupings, defending football champions, Lofa County will battle Bomi, Cape Mount and Gbarpolu Counties in Group D, with group matches set to take place in Tubmanburg.

Meanwhile, defeated football finalist, Montserrado County have been drawn in Group-A alongside River Gee, Margibi and Grand Bassa Counties.

Group A matches will happen in Kakata City.

Group B has four former winners drawn against each other.

Host Nimba will play Rivercess, Grand Kru and Bong Counties with their group matches in Sanniquellie.

Nimba have the chance to avenge their trophy lost to Grand Kru County in the 2020 final.

Three Southeastern Counties, Grand Gedeh, Sinoe and Maryland are paired in Group C with Grand Gedeh County being the host.

Zwedru City will serve as the official host venue for this Group.

This year’s edition of the nationwide showpiece will feature volleyball, basketball and athletics along Liberia’s two most populous sports, Kickball and football.

Lofa and Grand Bassa are the current champions from the last editions having won the football and kickball categories respectively.
