Action Aid Liberia donates four Motor Bikes to Rural Women.

In an effort to support activities of rural women Action Aid Liberia Monday, April 30th, 2018 donated four Motor Bikes and its accessories to Four Counties.
The gesture is part of a five year Sexual Gender Base Violence program supervised and supported by Action Aid Liberia including its donors, SIDA, the Swedish Embassy near Monrovia.
During the project women and girls in the targeted Counties namely:Bong, Montserrado, Grand Gedeh and Gbarpolu were trained on how to educate and sensitized rural dwellers on the danger of Sexual Gender based violence cases in their respective communities.
The aim of the donation was among other things intended to address logistical issues around handling protection cases.
According to the project Coordinator of Action Aid Liberia Aisha Kolubah they have observed over the past years that logistics have been a key challenge for rural women especially in executing their respective tasks something she noted prompted the donation.
“We noticed that you people find it difficult in going to different communities to follow up on SGBV cases including going to various crime scenes and we believe this will help you greatly” , Aisha added.
Aisha speaking during the brief donation exercise praised collaborating Ministries of Government to include:The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social protection, Justice, Youth and Sports, Internal Affairs and Health for partnering with them to ensure the success of the project.
The project Coordinator said Action Aid believes in partnership as well as supporting the local because they are the direct contacts to their people.
“Supporting rural women or the locals in general helps promote sustainability and ownership something Action Aid Liberia is committed to”, Aisha noted.
She commended rural women in the four Counties for been steadfast and committed to the cost of fighting and advocating for the reduction of Sexual Gender based violence cases over the years.
“You people are the real Frontliners as such deserve to be supported and encouraged as well for your tireless efforts over the past time.
Receiving the items the four representatives from the Counties to include Musu Barto of Bong, Korpo Howard of Montserrado, Jesadeh G.Varzon of Grand Gedeh and Ma. Bendu Jah of Gbarpolu all shower praises on Action Aid Liberia and her donor partners for always supporting their initiatives.
They historicized that in the past time the group has provided both financial and logistical as well as training support to them which they added has greatly helped in improving their daily activities.
The women promised to use the items wisely and for its intended purpose.
As part of the initiative Action Aid Liberia also committed itself to the fueling, servicing of the bikes.
The donation package includes:Rain coats, Helmet, spare parts including the brand new bikes to the four Counties.
The project which started in 2014 is expected to end later this year and was part of buttressing government efforts in addressing SGBV cases across the country.
The group has over the period worked with some local organizations namely:Liberia Women Empowerment Network, National Association on harmful traditional practices and many others.
The focus among other things is to advocate for women’s right, protection and discouraged ills in society that are intended to affect the well-being of Women, girls and children in general.
