Aggrieved Judicial Worker Set Self Ablaze at Temple of Justice

Rights activist and chairperson of the Union of Aggrieved Judicial Worker, Archie Ponpon, has suffered burn injuries on his face and hands after he set himself ablaze on the grounds of the Temple of Justice during the late morning hours on Monday.

According to reports, Mr. Ponpon’s action followed after he was issued a write of the arrest. Ponpon has for the past weeks been leading a group of aggrieved judicial workers, who have staged a series of protests at the Temple of Justice, demanding the Liberian dollars component of their salaries owed for over 12 months.

Other workers who were on the scene managed to quench the fire, as he was later rushed to the hospital.
