Rev. Collins to Contest as Independent Candidate in Margibi County


Barely three months to the December 8, 2020, senatorial elections, several citizens including: aggrieved Unity Partisans, Forward Margibi 2020 Movement and some Religious Leaders have endorsed the senatorial bid of Rev. Alexander Bango Collins as an Independent Candidate.

Rev. Alxander B. Collins is a member of the Unity Party (UP) and is among those contesting as independent candidates including incumbent senator Oscar A. Cooper, Former Principal of the Booker Washington Institute Mr. Mulbah Jackollie among others.


Reading the petition statement, the aggrieved Unity Partisans and cross section of citizens in Margibi said, Rev. Collins was the right Candidate to contest on the ticket of the unity Party (UP) and the best candidate who could represent the Four Collaborating Political parties (CPP) in the county and is the “solitary unsurpassed choice for the position” but the party decision not to conduct a primary in the county was illegal as such they have resolved to support Collins as independent candidate.

The citizens said it would be more significant for him to be given the chance to serve at the upper house of the Liberian Legislature which according to them will make him have supervision and bring Integrity to citizens in the County.

According to the Petitioners, Rev. Collins has worked beyond all boundaries as a member of the UP and a Pastor with moral values and integrity, adding that letting him become Senator will be an act of opening doors for Margibi County’s progress.

“We as aggrieved members of the Unity Party and citizens of our beloved County have gathered and had a prolonged dialogue, and appraised the development agenda and other political prerequisite of those who want to be aspirants of our County in which are proven by substantial evidence Margibi County, Rev. Alexander Bango Collins is the only person that will uplift our beloved County upon your election,” Joshua sumo added.

In their petition, the citizens named Collins contributions to the Student community, Media in the county, Margibi security sector, Religious community, the establishment of sisters relationship between Margibi County and the United States of America among others.

Receiving the petition, Rev. Collins told thousands of citizens in the county that he has accepted their mandate and will not let them down.

Rev. Collins further expressed dissatisfaction on the failure of the Unity Party conduct primary in the County.

He added that contesting as an independent candidate is not a challenge for him adding that Margibans have resolved to vote a man with visions and love for his County. Collins further called on his supporters not to panic , but to inform the people of Margibi about transformation.
