In Support Of The Fight Against COVID-:Ambassador Isaac Nyenabo, Identifies With Cross Sections of Grand Gedeans


Liberia’s Ambassador to the European Union, Luxemburg, Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium, Ambassador Isaac Wehyee Nyenabo, II has donated several items worth half a million Liberian dollars to the people and residence of Grand Gedeh County and his kinsmen residing in Monrovia.

Amb. Nyanabo’s latest initiative among other things was in support to the called by President George Weah for Liberians in the diaspora to give support back home to the fight against COVID-19.

In his statement carried live on local radio stations in the County, the Ambassador of Liberia to the European Union called on Grand Gedeans to give their unflinching supports to the government of President Weah.

He cataloged the numerous development the President has undertaken in a short period of time in the county ranking from the employment of scores of Grand Gedeans in government, to the construction of housing units in Tuzon, the home town of Ambassador Nyenabo as well as the plan construction of a 250 bedroom referral Hospital in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County including the reconditioning of several feeder roads in the County, among others.

COVID-19 since its outburst in China spread rapidly throughout the world.

Liberia recorded its first case on March 16, 2020 with a government official returning from Switzerland from a conference who was testing positive.

Thereafter, the virus infections rate took an upward trend.

The government of Liberia became to institute measures that are intended to halt the spread of the virus.

These measures despite been selective and packaged in a way that it has less impact on the citizenry, the impact seems to be unbearable for most of our people who have to trekked daily to fetch food from dawn to dusk to the farm and back and for some in the urban areas have to cut back their working and business times. With these impact on the people everywhere, the Ambassador and a son of Grand Gedeh County in his usual humanitarian style dating to the days when he was serving as senior senator of Grand Gedeh County from 2006 to 20015 January, decided to target the most vulnerable people of Grand Gedeh County.

The series of donation made by Team Nyenabo in Monrovia and Grand Gedeh County total about 1million Liberian dollars. The distributions among other thing catered to the following category of people in Grand Gedeh County;

Namely:   The six health districts of Grand Gedeh County (comprising 24 Health Centers)      The Martha Tubman Memories Hospital (The only Referral Hospital in the County)     Members of the Armed forces of Liberia (AFL) assigned at Cestor’s Bridge and   The Security Apparatus assigned in the County (Police, LIS, DEA, Fire Services, etc.)

Others are:  The Media (in Grand Gedeh County)      Staff of the Local Authority in Grand Gedeh County,        Zwedru City Corporation Streets workers,   The Inmates at the Palace of Corrections in Zwedru,  The Disabilities,    The Zoegos (key Populations)     The Grand Gedeh Traditional Council and    Old Folks in the 54 communities in Zwedru

The Ambassador Team distributed the total of 150 25kg bags of rice to these institutions with a cash of $870,000.00 (Eight hundred and Seventy thousand Liberian dollars) including purse presented to these groups.

Additionally, Ambassador Nyenabo provided for Grand Gedeans residing in Monrovia the total of $370,000.00LRD.  While Grand Gedeh Women Development Association received 50bags of the 25kg rice and $50,000LRD and for some communities where Grand Gedeans reside, among others.

He however, urged them to stay safe and follow all of the health measures for the benefit of the County and the Country at large.
