This is the second time in a period of three months for the country to experience high prices of petroleum products.
Importers of petroleum products and the government of Liberia recently agreed on a negotiation that saw the price of gasoline reduced to $LRD580.00, after weeks of hike in prices and artificial shortages on the market.
Gasoline is now sold at $LRD800.00, making it the highest in recent years. We cannot state definitively how long this latest price will last for, or what is responsible for the increment. But we wait for official statement from the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company, LPRC.
With the already high transport fares in Liberia, the problem may even get worse given the sky rocketing trend associated with rising prices.
