Liberia national football team captain William Jebor has been named in Wydad Athletic Club’s starting lineup for their knockout match against Tunisian side ES Sahel in the 2018/2019 Arab Club Champions Cup scheduled for tomorrow October 27 at the State Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco.
The full squad for tomorrow’s match was released later this evening on the club’s official Facebook page following the team’s final training session.
The 2018–19 Arab Club Champions Cup, known officially as the 2018–19 Zayed Champions Cup is the 28th season of the Arab World’s inter-club football tournament organised by Union of Arab Football Associations, and the first season since it was renamed from the Arab Club Championship to the Arab Club Champions Cup.
Jebor was part of team’s training sessions throughout this week and will be making his first appearance after returning from international duty where he helped the Lone Star to secure a 2-1 against Congo Brazzaville in the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on October 16.
The 26-year-old scored the second goal in 14 minutes after beautifully firing home an assist from Anthony Laffor.
A win for Wydad in tomorrow’s match will put them in a better position ahead of the return leg slated for November 8, in Sousse, Tunisia.
Wydad progressed to the Second Round (last 16) after defeating Al-Ahli Tripoli Libya 4-2 in penalty kicks in the First Round. The two legs ended 2-2. Jebor scored Wydad’s lone goal in the first leg 1-1 draw in Casablanca and also converted the first penalty for Wydad during the shootout in the second leg.
