Following long standing leadership struggle in the only municipal Borough of New Kru Town, Liberian Leader George Weah has officially named Tarpeh D. Carter as the new Governor of the Borough of New Kru Town.
Currently expectation is now high in the borough among the people about Carter’s delivery in his new position.
According to an executive mansion release the President made the appointment Wednesday at the Internal Affairs Ministry in a move to enhance local governance in Montserrado County.
Mr. Carter now replaces Alice Weah with immediate effect.
The Borough of New Kru Town, a densely populated Community with the Kru tribe in dominance is one of the strong holds of the Ruling Coalition for Democratic Change but was highly hit by the deadly Ebola Virus Crisis.
The Township is located in district number sixteen Montserrado County and is challenged like other Communities and Liberia in general as poor health condition, hardship and many others are the order of the Day.
Currently the CDC led Government is said to be bringing a bit of relieve to residence in the area.
The Government has so far through its coastal defense force project prevented the aggressive sea from eaten up the historic municipal borough of Kru Town as residence along the sea who normally rely on fishing as a means of survival are now living in peace as a result of the blocking of the sea from further encroachment into their homes.
Moreover, the construction of additional sixty-nine modern homes project in the same borough of New Kru Town has begun as the President commitment of making the borough a modern City to attract tourists including investors especially along the coastal region of the Borough is gradually becoming a reality.
The Borough of Kru Town in the middle of 2019 was also highly hit by back to back fire disaster due to electrical shock, Candle light and many others.
The Borough now host one of the biggest Public Hospitals, The Redemption Hospital and the D.Twe Public High School including other basic facilities in the area.
Mr. Carter who takes over from Madam Weah will now have a lot to do to heal the political and divided wound in the Borough as it is a highly and politically charged community and district as well as his ability to unite his people and to also address some of the challenges facing the borough and the people in general will be highly anticipated by him.
