Bong District #6 Lawmaker Harvests 52 Acres Rice Farm


Bong County District #6 Representative Moima Briggs Mensah has embarked on agriculture productivity in line with the citizens of the district’s priority for food self-sufficiency in the county.

This transformative drive has turned her to a farmer, adding, Liberia as a country needs to be self -sufficient in the food supply, especially in its stable food (Rice).

Rep. Mensahah said getting involved in farming should be in the interest of all Liberian Leaders and people as she is now harvesting 52 acres with Liberia stable food (Rice).

Rep. Mensah visited her farm recently to start the new rice harvest of the 3-months rapid yield hybrid nutritious variety that is now available for residents in the district and its environs.

Addressing local harvesters and other dignitaries at the farm site, the district #6  Lawmaker called on farmers to embark on agricultural production with all seriousness, stating that, her office is ready to support them in making sure rice is affordable to all Liberian and Residents of district #6 to eventually reduce the burden on Government to import rice at a huge foreign exchange cost.

The Lawmaker also informed farmers that because of the massive rice plantation, the harvest on the farm will continue, while she ensures that residents of the district get involved in rice production.

“This is what the new direction is all about, were credible and sincere politicians like Hon. Mensah who is promoting rice, self-sufficiency and food security in Liberia.

If only other politicians can follow the shining example of Rep. Mensah, then-President Weah’s vision of food security in Liberia will be achieved.” said one of the community stakeholders.
