The Development Education Leadership in Action Human Rights Foundation (DELTA-HRF) has condemned recent mob violence carried out by some unidentified individuals in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Recently, some unidentified individuals beat to death a man believe to be in his 30s, who was allegedly noted for criminal activities.

Early Saturday morning, the body of the man only identified as “killer bean” was placed under an old market kitchen around the Sunday Market area with scratch marks all over his body and a deep cut at the back of his head and his foot.

Some residents of the area were seen to celebrate the death of the alleged criminal with many alleging that he has over the years been stealing their properties.

But the Human Rights organization headed by Jesse B. Cole has frowned at the action of the unidentified individuals describing their actions as “lawlessness.”

Mr. Cole told KMTV News that it is a complete violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for the angry citizens to have killed the man.

“This is a bad sign for the country to just kill people in the street. Liberia is a country of law and no person’s opinion. Use what your Representatives have passed as law,” Mr. Cole angrily adds.

“We are all victims of theft, but this not responsible, once again the DELTA-HRF condemns this action in the strongest term.”

Mr. Cole has called on the government of Liberia through the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment to do everything possible in bringing the perpetrators to justice, noting that it will serve as deterrence to people who are in the hobbit of violating the laws of the state.
