Over fifty orphans at the Children’s Ministry Orphanage Home (CMOH) in Suakoko District, Bong County are appealing to the government, humanitarians and well-meaning individuals for support, as the orphanage home is running out of food and other basic necessities.
The orphanage has been taking care of several orphans over the years since 2005, but the current condition has led to the orphans calling out for support.
Speaking to KMTV over the weekend, the orphans named food, school fees, mattresses, clothes, and other basic necessities that they are in need of.
Some of the orphans narrated that they have ambitions of becoming permanent individuals in society, but expressed fear that they may not live their dreams if no support is provided to help them further their education and to help feed them at the orphanage home.
“I came here fifteen years ago after the death of my mother and I have been getting all the support from Children’s Ministry Orphanage Home, but right now we need people to help us,” one of the orphans said.
“I don’t know my parents, I school on this compound, get medication and wishing to be supportive parents in order for my dream to come through” an orphan added. Children Ministry Orphanage home can’t do all, with some of the help from goodwill individuals, there’s a need for more supports as we are struggling to have a better living.”
CMOH was founded on March 16, 1988, and had been running in Gardnerville, Monrovia, but later moved to Balama, Suakoko, in Bong County in 2005.
“We are here taking care of orphans and children who lack support from parents. Thankfully, some of them have enrolled at the University of Liberia (UL) and the Cuttington University respectively” says Madam D.S William, the administrator.
Currently, the home lacks food and non-food items.
Although they received donations from Lift Liberia Fellowship and other humanitarian organizations but not enough to sustain them. Medication is also a challenge from orphans at the center. CMOH is located in Balama, Suakoko District, Bong County.
