The Project Director of Liberia Media Initiative encourages journalists to practice conflict sensitive journalism.

The Project Director of Liberia Media Initiative, Samuka V. Konneh has encouraged journalists to practice conflict sensitive journalism as election draw closer.

Speaking to journalists, Konneh said, conflict has been a serious issue in Liberia as it relates to election, tribalism, land and among others.

He further said, the manner in which conflict is reported and resolved depends on the professional approach of journalists.

This he asserted, that those who penetrate the public depend on journalists to expand the trouble they want to cause, as such professional men and women in the field should be persistent in their duties.

The Project Director said, journalists have the responsibility to inform, educate, and also create a solution to problem.

He made those assertion, when he was speaking to journalists during the kick off of a two days Conflict sensitive journalism refresher training in Tubmanbury, Bomi County.

Also speaking, The Journalism Quality & Reporting Officer, LMI, Internews, Julius Kanubah said, the key concept of Conflict sensitive journalism is truth seeking, active accuracy, a focus on relevance and good writing.
This he asserted recognizes access to information, freedom of expression and the safety and security of journalists.

He further said, that journalists across the world face deep dilemma when it comes to reporting on conflict that are occurring in and sometimes devastating the communities they live and work in.

Speaking on conflict, Julius Kanubah said, Conflict exists in a relation when partner believe their aspiration cannot be achieved at the same time or perceive a divergence in their values, needs or interest (latent ) and among others.

This he said , that there are factors that lead to conflict, those include, scare resources, human needs, structural imbalances, information and communication.

Scope of Citizens in Grand Cape Mount County have expressed frustration over the manner in which the Liberianization policy is been denied at the Bea Mountain Mining company .

Speaking in separate tones, the citizens said, over the years national government had failed to adhere to the enforcement of the policy, instead watching her people suffer.

Speaking on Piso Radio, they said, it is regrettable to have seen foreign national occupying position at the company when there are qualified Liberian in the country.

Those positions mentioned, truck driver, cook, carpenter, house boy and among others.

The citizens at the same time called on Ministry of Labor and other agencies that are responsible for bad labor practices to intervene, as they are not benefiting from their own country resources.

It can be recalled, The Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) requested the Liberianization Policy enforced at Bea Mountain Mining Company in Grand Cape County.

The INCHR chairman, Cllr. T. Dampster Brown notes that Bea Mountain Mining Company is operating in total disregard of the Labour Law of Liberia.

Cllr. Brown says the company is not adhering to the Liberianization Policy that is intended to provide job opportunities for citizens of Liberia.

Addressing a press conference on the 7th of February 2022 in Sinkor Monrovia, he said the policy is an affirmative action that seeks to empower Liberians, emphasizing that no company should import workers, who are non-Liberians to occupy any position that Liberians are trained and qualified to occupy.

He reveals that the Management of Bea Mountain imported 300 expatriates, mainly Turkish and other nationals that are within its employ as truck drivers, painters, carpenters, cooks, house boys, and mechanics with higher salaries.

The INCHR boss further observes that condition of work for those aliens brought into the country is far improved than Liberian staff.

A - 28 year old man loses his pointing finger while operating drilling machine at NDABLAMA MOUNT.

A worker identified as Bennett Kettor has lost his pointing finger, while operating a drilling machine owned by the Bea Mountain Mining Company at the Ndablama mount in Grand Cape Mount County.

Speaking in a exclusive interview news men, the victim's Mother - Mrs Musu Kettor Momo narrated, that Bea Mountain has openly refused to pay her $USD 400 expenses she spent on her son, while undergoing treatment to majors Hospital like; Redemption, Catholic, John F. Kennedy (JFK) excluding transportation and feeding.

The mother of the victim said, since she presented all the medical documents, Bills, and payment receipts to company nothing has been done toward the wellbeing of her son.

According to her, the doctors from various Hospitals advised the victim to stay away from hard work or anything that may disturb his remainder fingers until after the period of Two Years(2yrs).

Madam Musu Kettor Momo lamented, that the company has refused attend to her son since the incident.

She told News men, that her son has worked with Bea Mountain as casual Labor for over five years;

The Development Suprietendent of Grand Cape Mount County, Boima Q. Gboyango Kamara has assured citizens of the pavement of the Robertsport road.

The Suprietendent said the project remain constant as it relates to implementation.

He at the same time, assured capemounteans of the completion of the 45kilometers to Robetsport.

Supt. Kamara said as claimed by some citizens of the county that culvert should be inserted before the pavement of the road, this he asserted can't commensurate with the project plan.

The Development Suprietendent further disclosed that there are roads in cape mount that haven't been reconditioned since 30years but through the Instrumentality of the Weah -led government, those roads are getting in a good shift.

He made those assertion when he was speaking on a local radio station, Radio Piso FM 93.2 on the Program the Piso Morning Show.

Supt. Kamara has cautioned citizens to remain kind and patient as the Robertsport road will kick out soon.

It can be recalled, during President Weah 5th state of the national address assured the people of Cape mount that the Robertsport road will be pave to the growth and development of the county.

Meanwhile, the development Suprietendent said, the pavement of the Robertsport road will be done in three segments.
