Montserrado County’s Cece United and Bong Rangers of Bong County have both qualified for the Orange second division.
Both sides booked their places in the Division-two league after winning their respective semi final matches in the ongoing National 3rd Division play-offs in Gbarnga, Bong County, on Friday, 25 June.
Cece cast away overrated Margibi County’s champions Susa FC 2-1 in the first semi final contest in the winners’ category.
The Saye Town boys sealed on a goal each from their Wonder-boy Moses Meah and starlet Delton Kollie.
Meah stole the lead for CeCe with a fantastic Barrent Karr’s free-kick after 9 minutes of play in the crucial matchup. That lone strike was enough to give the Saye Town club a well-deserved first half win.
The former Anointed FC star man, Meah set up a fine assist for Delton Kollie in the first quarter of the second half to double their lead over the Margibians.
SUSA put up a huge fight as they anticipated a comeback. They had some breath of hope after a magnificent free-kick goal from Hamilton Kerkulah five minutes before time.
But, goalkeeper Dorbor Dominic of CeCe was certainly at his peak and could not forgive himself if he had made any mistake as committed couple of saves thus denying the Margibi champions of a possible comeback.
CeCe withstood the last minute pressure squeezed against them by SUSA and their promotion was soon confirmed at the sound of Referee Fidelsco Bestman’s last whistle.
As for Bong Rangers, they reached the promised land after beating Gilba FC of Grand Bassa County 2-0 in the last semi final match at the David Kuyon stadium.
It was certainly a flaming battle between the Gbehzohn boys, Gilba and the Kpatawee boys of Bong as both sides went to the break all-squared at nil-nil.
After a stunning performance from the lads of Gilba, fans mounted more pressure on the home side, Bong Rangers – chanting “we want goal, we want goal.”
The crowd were soon put to their feet as 60 minutes substitute Lassana Kamara became the game changer by scoring all two goals for the Rangers.
He put the Bongese ahead 2 minutes after his introduction before doubling the score in the 69th minute.
Bong County will now have their first-ever second Division side after nearly a decade since Mighty Dragon got demoted.
