As a means of decentralizing, it’s activities in the Southeast, the Liberia Cement Cooperation has open its regional office in Maryland County.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Robert Marshall, Sales Area Manager said, their office extension in Maryland came in awake of President George Weah request to the LCC in extending to the Southeastern region.
“We are here today because of your President asking us to extend to this part of Liberia, so as to help many people built their houses with cement instead of mud. This is your own Liberia made and Liberia own business so it is important to make use of it and buy your cement. That is why we have our special price for those in the Southeast as you made know we were founded since 1958 and we just came to the Southeast because we own you a lot and have a commitment.”
Mr. Marshall mentioned that the just established regional office will supply Maryland, Grandkru, Grand Gedeh and Sineo Counties while indicating that they have signed a 1million contract with a vessel which he claimed will transport the cement to Harper for timely delivery.
The Sales Manager meanwhile said the price of a bag of cement will be sold for USD $9.50 Cents in the region but at the same time pointed out that if the Government of Liberia through NPA have a drop in duties Charges at the port during shipping, he believes the price of Cement will drop further.
For his part Harper District #1 Representative P.Mark Jurry, praised the Liberia Cement Cooperation for efforts made in opening a regional office in Maryland County. Rep Jurry mentioned that residents will make use of the opportunity and construct more homes.
“I think you have brought release to our people and especially those who cannot afford buying Cement at a higher price. We need to start encouraging our people to make use of this golden opportunity leaving from Mud to concert Houses.” He said.
Meanwhile Rep Jurry also stated that his office will swiftly intervene aimed at negotiating with the Port authorities to enable the reduction on charges at the Port.
The regional office was open on Monday 26 April 2021 at the stadium Road Community in Harper City, Maryland County.
