City Corporation ends first Inter-University Debate in grand style as Mayor Koijee lauded participating Schools for splendid performances.

The Monrovia City Corporation under the supervision of Monrovia’s youngest Major Jefferson Koijee and his strong and youthful team today ended a pilot phase of the inter-University Debate competition.
The academic brain storming exercise brought together young and talented Students from the United Methodist University and the Stella Meris Polytechnic exercising their intellectual mussels at the refurbished Theater of the City Corporation.
The grand finals was debated under the topic:Resolved that inadequate funding for enforcing city ordinances is responsible for uncleanness of Monrovia.
The two teams as obvious justified their respective arguments as their supporters despite control from the judges were seen cheering their teams in a move to motivate them to do more.
The intellectual discourse was graced by dominant young scholars, officials of the City Corporation, Government officials and Schools administrators among many others.
At some point in time Mayor Koijee was seen shaking his head as a reflection of his intellectual days especially when the teams tried as much as possible to convince the judges on their respective points as the crowd go wide.
Despite the academic competitive clash it was the United Methodist University who emerged as winner of the competition evidence of the independent and impartial decision from the judges led by Tiklo Maxwell Grigsby as the students and supporters of the UMU just could not stop jubilating.
According to Mayor Koijee the pilot phase project is a win win initiative as more are expected under his leadership.
He promised to change the old mentality of the City Corporation of been just a cleaning up arm of Government to a transfered and re-branded one as part of the pro-poor agenda.
Well in a mood to motivate the two teams the losing team Stella Meris Polytechnic walked away with a trophy, certificate and thirty thousand Liberian Dollars while the winner, United Methodist University smile when she took the giant Size trophy, a certificate and fifty thousand Liberian Dollars respectively.
Meanwhile UMU whipped SMP by 85% to 78%.
