Doctors suspend go slow action within forty eight hours

Following an intensive meeting with leaders of the Liberia Medical and Dental Association on one hand, the Ministry of Health and members of the health committee at the house of Representatives on the other hand,the inpatient but reasonable Doctors today under the banner (LMDA) May 15th, 2018 agreed to suspend temporarily their go slow action within forty eight hours.
According to Dr.Jonathan Hart Secretary General of the professional group their decision today to be flexible with their previous action is in the best interest of Liberians but it should not be seen as a weakness on their part.
He said as professional people their focus is to always safe lives which he noted they are committed to.
However Dr. hart told journalists that he is hoping that the agreement today reached between the three parties to include: LMDA, Ministry of Health and the committee on Health at the House of Representatives will not be business as usual meaning fruitless and unimplementable promises which they have experienced over the past years.
He threatened that if the government does not lift up to the part of the bargaining, they will embarked upon a Nation wide full scale strike action noting that the public especially their patients should not have them to blame Rather the relevant authorities

,something that may cause a national health disaster if implemented by the medical Doctors already the sector is facing uncountable challenges.

The meeting which lasted for several hours was witnessed and fully participated by Health Minister Dr.Wilhelmina Jallah,Saah Joseph,houses chair on health and officials of the LMDA to include its President Dr.Louise Kpoto and Secretary General Dr.Jonathan Hart.
The parties after careful but hectic deliberations agreed to lift up to the following commitments:
That the list of Doctors on the Ministry of Health ghost list be sent to the Liberia medical and Dental Association today for verification by the affected Doctors,that all Doctors on the ghost list of the Ministry of health be reinstated on the incentives/salary payroll effective immediately and That within two weeks,the Ministry of health makes full payment of arrears of Doctors placed on the ghost list(creating of their respective accounts) including their May Salary.
Other key commitments the three parties reached up to are:The verification and placement of 104 Doctors,who have been working for the Ministry of health since 2016 but are not on the Liberian dollar payroll and should be adjusted as of July 2018 to ensure it meets up with present day reality,more importantly the professional body wants the 2018/2019 National budget body to take into key consideration the salary increment of all Doctors.
Additionally going forward the LMDA looking at the vulnerability of the health system including current challenges it face with encouraged relevant authorities to see the need to upgrade government health facilities across the Country where they are presently assigned.
About hundred Doctors from across Liberia today attended the meeting not happy with their decision to abandon their respective job sites but wants a concrete redress to their plights because according to them they have families to take care of too.
Meanwhile In brief remarks to the media Health Minister Dr.Wilhelmina Jallah and houses chair on health Saah Joseph both indicated that the Doctors have genuine concerns as they are working on modalities to have it addressed.
