Senator Abraham D. Dillion, “This Senate is rotten, it is meaningless, it is useless, and spineless.”
Political tension is breeding between tough talking Senator Abraham Dillon and some of his colleagues in the Liberian Senate.
Senators including George Tengbeh of Lofa County and Senator Jonathan Kaipay of Grand Bassa are accusing senator Dillon of inciting the Liberian people against them by putting out false information.
A letter addressed to the Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate reads, “ My distinguished colleagues, Senator Darius Dillon of Montserrado County has brought the Honorable Liberian Senate and fellow Senators to unjustifiable public ridicule.
He has done an irresponsible damage to the reputation, integrity and dignity of the Honorable Liberian Senate. He has dishonored the senate and made it a laughingstock.”
Since his election to the Liberian Senate in 2019, Senator Dillon has been vocal against the Lawmakers , terming them as corrupt, wicked, selfish amongst others as he argued several issues ranging from instituting laws to benefit the Liberian people, budget passage, corruption amongst others .
A communication circulating on social media and obtained by KMTV addressed to the Pro -Tempore of the Liberian Senate and signed under the signature of Lofa County Senator George Tengbeh, is calling for Senator Dillon to be investigated by that body for his disrespectful comments.
KMTV is yet to independently verify the letter which has Senator Tengbeh’s last name misspelled as ‘Tengeh” , but the letter is complaining Senator Dillon to the Senate leadership because Senator Dillion is in the constant habits of accusing Senators of receiving bribe.
“On Wednesday May 20, 2020, Senator Dillon accused all Senators who affixed their signatures to the Senate Resolution containing the COVID-19 recast budget and certain fiscal measures of receiving bribe,” the letter said.
Because of that, Senator George Tengbeh is asking his colleagues to demand Senator Dillon to provide proof of the commission of bribe which he said is a felonious crime by the twenty -three Senators who signed the document.
Continue his justification why Senator Dillon must be investigated, the Lofa County Lawmaker said, Senator Dillon is in the constant habit of disrupting sessions and shows no respect to the offices of the Senators who try to bring him to order .
Article 42 of the Liberian constitution reads, “No member of the Senate or House of Representatives shall be arrested, detained,
prosecuted or tried as a result of opinions expressed or votes cast in the exercise of

going to or returning from sessions of the Legislature, except for treason, felony or

Article 38 of the Liberian constitution reads, “ Each House shall adopt its own rules of procedure, enforce order and with the concurrence of two-thirds of the entire membership, may expel a member for cause. Each House shall establish its own committees and sub-committees; provided, however, that the committees on revenues and appropriations shall consist of one member from each County. All rules
He also alleged that Senator Dillon in an interview weeks ago, deceptively told the public that he received six thousand five hundred as operational funds and such was a lie and alleged that Dillon received more than what he told the public he got.
Senator Tengbeh described the move as dishonest on the part of Montserrado County Senator Dillon, saying it has no place in the Liberian Senate and it is criminal .” it is honorable to disclose fully and criminal to disclose partially “ he said .

As for Senator Jonathan Kaipay of Liberty Party in a news conference Thursday, accused Montserrado county Sen. Abe Darius Dillon of receiving eight thousand (8,000) united states dollars as operational funds instead of six thousand five (6,500) hundred united states dollars.
Senator Dillon who walked out of session in a live interview said “ we are rotting the Liberian people in the name of representing them here and this nonsense has to stop.
On Wednesday this plenary made a representation and it was a decision of the Liberian Senate to send this recast budget to the Finance, Ways and Means Committee to review this budget , take the appropriate actions by summoning the Minister of Finance, LRA people so we can see if it is possible to generate this revenue, and if we taking loan as part of this budget we want to know how they were secured.”
Dillon said to his disbelief, the Pro-Tempore put a resolution on the floor to pass the budget without having a report form the committee to know how decisions were made.” This Senate is rotten, it is meaningless, it is useless, and spineless.”
Senator Dillon urged his colleagues to put the interest of the Liberian people first and not their personal interest.
