Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has termed the lighting of the National Christmas Tree as “an affront to the thousands who have not been paid and are hungry.”

Madame Sirleaf in a tweet early Monday said, “the opulence display at the lighting of the Liberian president Christmas tree was indeed impressive, but with the country’s difficult economic climate it is an affront to the thousands who have not been paid and are hungry.”

President Weah and scores of government officials on Friday, December 18, attended the well organized lighting of the National Christmas Tree held at the grounds on the Executive Mansion in Monrovia.
