Former Head of the Liberia Extractive Industries and Transparency Initiative (LEITI) Gabriel Nyenka will now begin work in his new Portfolio as Advisor on Communications to the Presidency Today, Monday, September 16, 2019.
The decision came following his appointment by President George Weah over the weekend.
In his new job, Mr. Nyenka is expected to among other things help in further strengthening the communications arm of the presidency and to as well provide fruitful pieces of professional communication advice to the presidency.
Due to his new appointment the LEITI has a vacancy which the Liberian leader urged the relevant committee to follow all procedures including a competitive vetting process to find the new LEITI head of secretariat.
Additionally, President Weah has directed the multi-stakeholders group to properly replace the former LEITI boss.
LEITI was created by an act to support government’s effort in promoting transparency and accountability over the management of revenues from Liberia’s extractive resources.
