Ganta, Nimba County: A 16-year-old girl believed to have been kidnapped by some unknown men was on Sunday, November 22 discovered in an old rubber farm near the Hope Community, in Ganta.
Blessing P. David, and her friend only identified as Patience, went missing on Friday at about 4:30 pm on the Sanniquellie highway, on the outskirts of Ganta.
According to Blessing, while on their way a black Jeep girl started to follow them, but never had the thought that the vehicle was pursuing them until they later realized.
“After noticing that they were behind us, we got afraid and started to walk faster, but as we were walking, the car too was speeding up so we dropped our waiter plates and started running in the bush so the men parked their Jeep and started chasing us,” Blessing narrated.
“I can remember that there were four men that ran behind us. My friend went on the other side and I ran towards the mountain shouting but nobody was there so the other man grabbed me. The last thing I remembered is when he knocked a handkerchief on my nose.”
“Since that day, only Sunday morning I came to myself and when I wake up, I saw myself tied in the bush so I started shouting for people to help me.”
She also narrated that after gaining her consciousness on Sunday, she saw two men standing by her in the bush where she was being confined.
When they were questioned, none of them responded.
“I only heard the other man telling someone on the phone that ‘we have some of them here,’ but the person that was on the phone said that their car broke down around the checkpoint, so the men left and when outside the bush to wait for their friends that’s how I started calling my friend Patience, but I was not hearing her so myself I started shouting,” she said.
Blessing was later discovered by a woman who had gone in the same bush to fetch firewoods.
There has been no report about the other girl (Blessing’s friend) up to press time since Friday. According to the police, they have not received any information about Patience.
Meanwhile, Police at the Women and Children Protection Services at the Ganta Police Station have launched an investigation into the matter and also embarked on a search for the missing girl.
Blessing David lives in the Deakehmein Community with her mother Mercy K. Daniel. The family survived on petty trade according to her mother. She was found with no wounds or cuts on any part of her body.
