Bong County Attorney Janathon Flomo also told KMTV that the 12 who are on the run were all pre-trial detainees.
Flomo added that the inmates were all high code criminals who were placed behind bars following police preliminary investigations in the county about a series of crimes committed.
Their charges range from gang rape, murder, criminal conspiracy, arm robbery, theft of property, burglary, criminal mischief and several other charges that were pending trial by the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga.
Attorney Flomo told reporters that Wednesday’s jailbreak is a major threat to residents of Bong County.
He has therefore called on residents of the County to be watchful about strange people in their communities and aid the security of the county with the necessary information in other to have the alleged criminals rearrested.
An investigation has been launched among prison officials regarding the “hard to believe jailbreak at the huge prison facility in Gbarnga.”
