Two people were killed, one seriously injured in a tragic motor accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Gbarnga, Bong County.
The three victims, believed to be local vendors of Lone Star Cell MTN, were plunged into by a truck transporting goods from Monrovia to Ganta, Nimba County.
Health workers said one of the victims died instantly, while the other was later pronounced dead at the Phebe Hospital. The lone survivor is said to be seriously injured with legs and arms broken.
Eyewitnesses narrated that it was due to the victims’ failure to properly look to both ways before getting on the road, thus leading to the accident at Gboveh’s Junction in Gbarnga.
The truck driver according to eyewitnesses, escaped the scene and immediately reported himself to the Liberian National Police Bong County detachment.
Police have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the accident.
Residents of Gbarnga have expressed sadness over the deaths of the deceased and called on the Police through its traffic division to put in place measures that will reduce the accident rate in the County.
