The Liberia Football Association (LFA) and officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports have officially received Mr Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF and FIFA’s Secretary General Madam Fatma Samoura.
The high profiled football delegation arrived in Liberia on separate flights lately Tuesday and early Wednesday morning respectively.
The head of the world football governing body FIFA, Mr. Infantino arrived at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) via Qatar Airways at about 22:51 GMT (10:51 pm local time).
Though it was earlier announced that the FIFA boss and his delegation were going to arrive at the RIA around 7 pm local time, but arrived four hours late due to some delay in Cote d’Ivoire.
Infantino, alongside the FIFA secretary-general and their entourage, came along with Mr. Mustapha Raji, head of the Liberia Football Association.
The LFA’s president earlier departed Liberia to joined the football hierarchies in the Ivory Coast on Sunday, May 2, to form part of their visit to that country.
Meanwhile, nearly two hours after the arrival of the FIFA chief executive, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of CAF also landed at the RIA along with his wife and children at about 1:36 Am.
The CAF chief boarded another plane alongside his wife whilst his children were brought by another aircraft.
At the RIA, the guests were awarded a rousing and warm welcome by Youth and Sports Minister D. Zeogar Wilson, LFA Vice President Sekou Konneh, Chief Zanzan Kawar, head of the traditional council of Liberia and executive committee members of the LFA as well as football stakeholders in attendance.
Chief Kawar presented kola nuts to Mr. Infantino as a traditional way of welcoming him to the West African nation.
