Monrovia, Liberia-The government of Liberia has announced the hosting of a national economic dialogue this July.
The pronouncement comes barely a week after president George Weah disclosed measures by his administration to help address some challenges facing the Liberian Economy.
At his most recent special statement to the nation, the Liberian leader admitted to some of the challenges facing the nation and its people but was also quick to extend olive branch to all relevant stakeholders to join his government in a dialogue and device mechanisms that will help solve the Country’s problems collectively.
He encouraged all state and non state actors to come on board with their suggestions and ideas to help fix the nation’s problems together, adding that all necessary suggestions will be critically taken into consideration.
The Liberian leader latest pending Economic Dialogue according to Mr. Smith is a wise and timely decision for the benefit of all.
He used the occasion to call on all Liberians to see the pending economic dialogue as the best opportunity to move Liberia forward.
According to Deputy Presidential press secretary Smith Toby, the Liberian leader takes very seriously, the improvement of the lives of his people and is doing everything possible along with partners and his senior government officials to collectively address the critical national issues.
Smith said the pending economic conference will bring together business actors, political parties, Civil Society Organizations and many others to holistically look at sticky issues affecting the growth of Liberia’s economic sector.
Speaking at a regular presidential update Tuesday, deputy presidential press secretary Smith Toby said the president is upbeat about seeing how best to help improve the economy.
“Additionally and as evidence to see the seriousness the President attaches to help address the pressing economic challenges facing the nation and its people, members of the cabinet will tomorrow host a major cabinet meeting Wednesday”, Toby intimated.
It is expected that the economic management team will provide briefings at the meeting and proffer suggestions on the way forward of the Country’s struggling economy.
Moreover, Mr. Toby told executive mansion reporters that policy issues will also be high on the agenda for deliberation.
The most recent back to back cabinet meetings with senior government officials is amongst other things intended to find short and long terms solutions to the current economic crisis facing the Country, including other paramount issues of concern.
In another development over 20 American Doctors Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Liberian leader.
The professional health practitioners are currently in the Country rendering free surgical services to Liberians at the John F.Kennedy Memorial Hospital.
According to presidential press secretary Smith Toby, the move by the American Doctors is so heart touching, something the Liberian leader recognizes highly.
He said president Weah remains fully committed to providing adequate health services for his people.
