One of Liberia’s renowned Gospel artists Cyrus G. Townsend has officially joined the opposition Alternative National Congress ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Townsend said his desire to join the ANC is predicated upon Mr. Alexander B. Cummings’ selfless leadership and love for the country.
He maintained that over the years Alexander Cummings has proven to be one of Liberia’s acclaimed politician with no history of corruption or involvement in any political instability.
‘’It has been five years since I developed the desired to join the ANC, and fulfilling such desire today gives me the best feelings’’ he stated.
According to him, under a Cummings presidency, the country will once again experience rapid economical and social transformation.
The Liberian hitmaker furthered that the ANC and the CPP remain the alternative solution to Liberia’s old age problems.
He made the assertion Monday when he and several other gospel artists joined the opposition ANC at the party’s headquarters in Sinkor.
Receiving the new members to the party, the National Chairman of the Alternative National Congress Senator Daniel F. Naatehn laudable the decision of the new partisans terming it as historic.
“Welcome to the political party where everybody is somebody, at ANC we don’t discriminate. So you have made the best decision ever to join the people’s movement. To admit we are so glad to receive all of you today,’’ Naathn said.
He admonished the new partisans that the ANC will do all in its powers to restore the lost hope of Liberians by instituting policies and programs to lift the country out of poverty.
According to him as a political party established to provide the best alternative leadership for the country, the ANC will remain committed in its quest for a better and prosperous Liberia.
Senator Naatehn noted that for Liberia to regain her integrity among the comity of Nations Liberians should rally with the opposition block to make the George Weah Administration a one-term presidency in 2023.
Also speaking, ANC political leader Alexander Benedict Cummings said it was a milestone achievement to have members of the governing CDC crossing over to the opposition block.
He intoned that the decision to have members of the governing party joining the opposition political party manifiests that Liberians are more determined to make the Weah’s administration a one-term presidency.
Mr. Cummings pleaded with members of the opposition community to recruit and mobilize more people to join the party to ensure visibility.
He was speaking when the Alternative National Congress mobilization, recruitment and membership committee unveiled a musical instrument and a photocopier machine to the party.
