Government Reacts To Roots Fm Closure, Brands It As A criminal Enterprise

Government of Liberia through its solicitor General Cllr. Sayma Syrenius  Cephas said the Government will not allow any public demonstration that is not licensed and or be sanction by the Government.

According to him his response is in reaction to reports of a plan rally allegedly by Talk Show host Henry Pedro Costa calling on his supporters to cause public unrest something he noted the Government will not permit.

He warned Mr. Costa that it will be a miscalculation should said protest or gathering take place cautioning him (Costa) to rethink his strategy.

Cllr. Cephas addressing a regular news briefing Thursday, October 10, 2019  pointed out that the government will upheld to the core the 1975 public act which calls for an individual or group of people to obtain permit before staging any public demonstration.

On the issue of the Thursday Roots Fm Saga the Solicitor General added that the process by Government was done legally contrary to what has been perceived in the public.

He explained that Roots fm based in Careysburg Montserrado County is in violation of section fifteen of the Telecommunications act as such it will be search and equipment therein be seized by the proper authority something that was done early Thursday morning in Monrovia.

Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephas in his words branded Roots Fm as a criminal enterprise and is allegedly involved in the act of extortion and blackmailing as well as engaging into hate messages against innocent people and to as well incite violence in Liberia, this he noted will not be tolerated in the Country.

“We are resolved to pursue this matter to the end”, he told reporters Thursday afternoon.
