Emmanuel K. Ballah, a 55-year-old driver of ArcelorMittal, accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in Grand Bassa has been arrested, charged, detained at the Upper Buchanan Central prison and forwarded to court awaiting trial.

Mr. Ballah was charged for statutory rape by the Grand Bassa detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Friday, July 17, and forwarded to the Buchanan magisterial court for prosecution.

The 55-year-old was arrested and placed behind bars on Wednesday, July 15, following a complaint from the survivor’s mother. Mr. Ballah allegedly raped the 13-year-old survivor after her mother left her in the month of June of this year and went for a break, but upon her return, the survivor told her that she was sexually abused by Mr. Ballah in his room.

Medical report, according to the survivor’s mother has proved that her daughter was raped.

The survivor’s mother has maintained that she will not rest until justice prevails. “I will not rest at all until the final result comes from the court. If I was the president the best punishment for people who are involved in raping is to cut off their private parts.”
