In COVID-19 Fight: Liberia Climbs 116 In Recoveries

As the global village is said to be reporting more COVID-19 recovered cases so is Africa’s oldest Republic, Liberia.

Currently the global village has reported over 1,794,885 recoveries compare to 310,897 deaths as of May 16, 2020.

As of May 16, 2020, a total of 116 recovered COVID-19 patients have been reported according to health authorities.

The current statistics show a total of eight new recoveries up to press time.

The report shows that Montserrado County has the highest recovered patients of 112 while Sinoe, Grand Kru, Nimba and Rivergee account for one recovery each, totaling 116 respectively.

The latest report also disclosed by gender that more males in the numerical range of 78 have recovered, seven of that are new recoveries while 38 females have also recovered, one of this number is a new recovery respectively.

Health officials in conversation with reporters say the newest report shows an impressive effort by all Liberians and front line workers in the fight against the COVID-19 crisis, though more still needs to be done.

Moreover, the number, experts further stated does not mean that Liberia should remain complacent in the current fight against COVID-19.

According to the current report, there are more recoveries thus far than deaths of recent with eight recoveries against four new confirmed cases amounting to 100% performance thus far.

Currently Liberia has 87 active cases, 223 total confirmed cases, four new cases as of press time and twenty deaths, no new deaths thus far.

This Health authority described as a good sign in the fight against COVID-19 crisis in Liberia as all front line workers are accredited with such welcoming statistics thus far.

According to global health practitioners, more COVID-19 confirmed patients amounting to over 80% normally will recover from the disease while a decimal percentage of that due to the individual situation will fall prey to the virus.

Meanwhile health officials have encouraged residents in the Country to continue abiding by all of the health measures and protocols with emphasis on social distancing, the proper wearing of masks, active and regular washing of hands among others, mainly in homes and other Communities.

“The report of deaths so far needs to be further worked on as such we need to do more”, they noted.

Currently out of the 20 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Liberia, 12 are reported from homes/ Communities, seven from health facilities and one from the treatment unit, this the practitioners say require collective collaboration effort from local communities to effectively battle the crisis hands down.
