In Ganta, Citizens Mourn Death of Six People Killed in Car Crash

A one day period of mourning was on Wednesday, July 15, observed in Ganta, Nimba County by citizens, particularly business people to mourn the death of six people who instantly lost their lives in a horrific road accident involving a commercial taxi and a trailer carrying logs along the Gbarnga-Ganta Highway.

The six travelers (five females and a male), who were all business people from Ganta, met their demise late Tuesday, July 14, evening while on their way from Monrovia.

Business owners in Ganta on Wednesday closed their shops in observance of the one-day mourning following an appeal from Nimba County Superintendent Nelson Korquoi.

The Gompa Funeral pilot became the scene of mourning as citizens from all walks of life converged to mourn and sympathize with people directly affected.

One of the deceased was buried on Wednesday after she was identified by her family, while the relatives of the other five deceased are expected to take charge of the burials later.

Meanwhile, many people including, stakeholders have termed the tragedy as being demonic, therefore calling on the religious community to engage in serious prayers.
