Two physically challenged people have received wheelchairs from the India Honorary Consul General to Liberia, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, commonly known in Liberia as Jeety.
The items were surprisingly presented to the two less fortunate Liberian men (zogos), at one of the company’s hot cooked food distribution site.
Mr. Jeety said, he feels sad to always see the two men crawling with their hands to receive their plates of the cooked food because they never had wheelchair to make their movement easier.
Presenting the wheelchairs to the two, he said, the disabled are the most Vulnerable and needy in society, especially during crisis.
For their part, beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Jetty for his gesture and said the wheelchairs will help them swiftly move around.
The fourteen years brutal civil war in Liberia left many ex-soldiers and rebels amputated and drugs addicts; and many of them are living on the streets as the most vulnerable people in the country.
