Justice Ministry Ends Probation Workshop for Stakeholders’ in Margibi


As part of efforts to strengthen the Justice system in Liberia, the Ministry of Justice through its Division of Probation services has concluded three days training for over 40 stakeholders’ in Margibi County.

According to Atty. Weedor Laimie, the training was organized to improve the understanding of Community leaders and other stakeholders about the functions of Probation officers in line with the justice system of Liberia .

Local county officials, Community and religious leaders, students, Marketers, and Human Rights activists   from across the County benefited from the training .

They shared notes on understanding the role of correction officers, Community support to reintegration, retributive justice, and its pitfalls as well as restorative justice and its advantages for the Liberian justice system.

Other topics discussed were the understanding of processes leading to Probation, the advantages of Probation as a sentence option, and the role of the community in information gathering, as part of a Presentence Investigation including the supervision of the probationer.

Speaking at the end of the training Margibi County Attorney  Cllr. Daddy Wilson expressed gratitude to MOJ and ask participants to share the knowledge gained during the training.
