Ganta, Nimba County: The Head Coach of the Nimba County football team, Emmanuel B. Kaykay, and his entire backroom staff have been hugely criticized following their team’s poor output in their last two friendly matches.
Nimba County hosted Margibi and neighboring Bong Counties at the weekend in Ganta, as part of their preparation preceding the upcoming 2020-21 National County Sports Meet of Liberia.
The Conquerors picked up a draw match against regular County Meet rivals Margibi at the Gompa Sports Stadium on Saturday evening, but put up a very lazy display of football.
During the entire 90 minutes period, Nimba had only three shots on goal with an unimpressive coordination in the middle.
The defense was un-composed with only a little focus from goalkeeper Junior Yeanaye, who captained the team on the pitch.
Fortunately for them, the Margibians never make use of their opportunities to hit the net leaving the contest into a scoreless equalizer after full-time.
Sunday was another miserable day as the Nimbaians thrilled two goals to nil at the hands of the Kpatawee Boys of Bong County. Kulah Gonloryon and Mark Mensah goal each in the two halves give the Bongess the victory.
Nimba County was hugely dominated by the visitors throughout the separate halves of the match.
Owing to their underrated performances, citizens have seriously frowned at Coach Kaykay and his deputies.
The fans also expressed their lack of trust in the team, stating that the team can not ably represent Nimba in the forthcoming nationwide sports jamboree which has been scheduled for December 12 by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Conquerors of Mount Nimba are situated in pot B, which includes host, Sinoe, River Gee and former champions Bomi. Matches for this group will be played in Greenville City.
” This team that Kaykay has here doesn’t resemble Nimba County team. We’re not building an academy.” the Sports Steering Committee Chairman of Nimba, Mr. Odoshall Karnue angrily said after the Sunday’s game.
In fact I’m going to dissolve this entire team he continued.
” Let me be bold to you, there is a lot of work that needs to be done on this team. We need a good goal puncher.
This team needs a serious overhauling, another hierarchy who preferred to remain uncover lamented.
“This is not the Nimba County the we know. Maybe the coach has our tram keeping somewhere another ardent fan explained.
Nimba County have been undergoing tryouts or justification since October 12.
They have played four high profile trial matches so far. The team defeated Nimba based second division side Ganta Almighty 3-1 in their first test match just three weeks into justification.
Last Sunday, they collected an equal nil-nil score against Bong at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium, in Gbarnga, Bong County before their last two troubleshooting games at the weekend in Ganta.
In response to public criticisms, Coach Kaykay has appealed to the citizens as well as stakeholders to stay calm and look up to them as they are still doing their technical works.
He said it is good to lost sometimes, that helps you to identify where the real problems are stressing.” We are almost already there guys, we have to give others some time to justify their inclusion, it sometimes good to lost in these kind of match(es) ,it helps you to see some loop holes ,even if we had won the game yesterday and everyone were happy ,we wouldn’t had seen some problems, but this is football ,and these are some of the reasons why test matches are played.
Guys, it will get better and bigger, let’s know that this team will reach Nimba ,believe in our abilities, technically speaking, we know the problem and close that gap. Thanks for all of the views , I appreciate.” Kaykay expressed.
