LAST-WELL To Launch Over 3M Clean Water Access Project In Four Counties In Liberia


In an effort to fulfill the sustainable development goal six on universal access to all through the provision of safe drinking water,a Christian Organization Last- Well has committed itself to the implementation and realization of said goal.

The organization through its clean water access project is helping to bring relief to residents in rural Liberia by providing safe drinking water to them.

According to the Senior “WASH” officer for government engagement at LAST-WELL,Abdul Hafiz Koroma his institution is always pleased to see people in rural Liberia drinking safe and clean water especially to alleviate and or address water borne diseases issue.
As part of said initiative, the organization will Friday launch over 3M United States Dollars project which will target four Counties namely : Lofa,Margibi,Nimba and Rivergee.

Mr. Koroma pointed out that the project is under three components including: the construction of 116 new hand pumps,the repairs and rehabilitation of 161 hand pumps including the distribution of over 5000 water filters.
The project focus he indicated is to target most needed people in rural Liberia and to bring relief to their old age problem of inadequate or unsafe drinking water in their respective towns and villages.

As part of the project the LAST- WELL official said they will train local machanists on how to take care of the facilities as well as a robust monitoring plan he added is alreafy being work out.

Currently Koroma noted that their 300 contractors are in the field in the targeted Counties working tirelessly to ensure the project is accomplished.
He said providing timely, essential,safe and clean drinking water to its rural population has been a key priority of his boss and the institution in general.

He stressed that the people in rural Liberia are happy for the project but was quick to encourage them to help take ownership of the project for the benefit of all.

Under the project technicians of LAST-WELL are also providing training for the people on how to use and manage the water filters and many others.
It can be recalled that LAST-WELL constructed 90 wells in Grand Bassa County.

The aim is to help provide safe drinking water for rural population.

Recently several people in upper Buchanan area got sick due to the drinking of unsafe drinking water in their community.

Meanwhile ,LAST-WELL WELL focus has over the period been in the South Eastern region of Liberia providing clean and safe drinking water to the population.
The region has over the years experienced a huge challenge on access to clean and safe drinking water.
