The Liberia Football Association (LFA), has appointed former Gambia U20 coach Tapha Manneh, as Head Coach of the Liberia Under-20 men’s national team.
The Gambian tactician was named on Tuesday evening as the new supervisor of the men’s U20 team and will sign a two-year contract with the Liberian FA (LFA) at the ATS on Wednesday 7 July where he will be officially unveiled at a news conference according to the LFA.
“Manneh, who coaches LISCR FC in the Orange first division, will be unveiled at a news conference at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium at 10:00AM on 7 July.”
The LFA announced on its official Facebook handle. Tapha holds CAF “B”_ License in coaching and the FA Level 1(English FA) with supporting credentials including FA Emergency Aid workshop Certificate, Intermediate and Advance Coaching Certificate, Certificate in Club Administration (English FA) and FA Certificate in Parents and Careers (English FA).
The 56-year-old has been a phenomenal Coach since joining Liberia’s first league side, LISCR FC in July 2016.
The gaffer has won five major trophies, (1 League title, 2 FA Cups and 2 Super Cups) with the Shipping boys in his remarkable five years spell with the top league’s side.
Though his coming to LISCR in 2016, his first ever job outside the Gambia was greeted with mix reactions amongst fans of the club; many doubted his ability to deliver the club based on his credentials and inexperienced in the Liberian football league, but Manneh soon turned those doubts around when he became the first Coach in the club’s history to win a domestic double the First Division crown and the FA Cup for the club in his first year at the club during the 2016/17 Season.
Manneh has turned out to be the most decorated LISCR FC’s Coach in history. Before joining LISCR, the impressive gentleman with a great coaching skills served as head coach of his native Gambia U20 men’s national team.
During his days in the Gambian league, he won the Gambian Super Cup on three occasions with Gamtel in 2010/11, 2012/13 and 2014/15 . He also won the 2014/15 National League title with Gamtel in Gambia.
Tapha has not only been a Coach in the Liberian football league, but he has also been an Ambassador of the Gambia and the football fraternity.
