Lofa Newest Inducted Into Senatorial Office


The Liberian Senate on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, inducted into office Lofa County Senator-Elect, Cllr. Joseph K. Jallah.

It comes as the result of a recommendation from the Senate Committee on Rules, Orders, and Administration asking the plenary to induct the senator-elect after successfully legislative procedures were made.

It was incumbent upon the office of the senate Pro-Tempore to install Senator-elects into office upon passing through legislative processes, something which was no exception to the Lofa County Stewart.

The induction of the Lofa political icon brings to two the number of Senators who are supposed to represent the county as per the constitution.

The county now has members of the Liberian Senate and is fully represented.

The Lofa county’s new lawmaker at the same time has promised to reconcile the people of Lofa. He says he is aware of the level of segregation currently in the county following his election in the June 28, 2022, by-election.

“This victory is for unity; it is a victory for lasting peace and reconciliation; this will encourage us to stand tall against all evils,” he says here after his certification by the National Elections Commission.

Speaking on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in the chamber of the Liberian during the session,  Senator Cllr. Joseph Jallah noted that he’s aware of the difficulties the Commission has gone through just to make sure the election was free, fair, and credible.

He narrated that commissioners at the NEC demonstrated that they love Liberia more than themselves.

 “We will ensure religious tolerance, cultural harmony, and peaceful coexistence, this is what this victory will do.” Senator Cllr. Jallah said.

He called on all contestants from the just-ended polls to work together for the common good of the county, saying “To those who seem to have lost, let me hastily say that Lofa County has not lost; Lofa County shall continue to be the beacon of hope as well as our county for social, economic development.”

The local newest Lawmaker also promised to subject himself to the will of democracy especially, for the Lofa, and describes the polls as a crash election where all candidates heavily campaigned to win votes from the citizens.

Senator Jallah thanked the people of Lofa County as well as the Congress for Democratic Change for their efforts during the campaign process which resulted in his victory noting, that the victory is for the People of Lofa,  which will bring unity as well as peace and reconciliation in the county.

Meanwhile, Lofa County Senator, Stephen Zargo is commending members of the Liberian Senate for their moral support giving him at the Liberian Senate while serving as the only Senator for the County.

He commended the people of Lofa County for what he calls epitomizing Lofa’s Uniqueness culture and tradition.
Meanwhile, the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Prof. Albert T. Chie has called on his colleagues to render all necessary assistance to Lofa County Senator, Cllr. Joseph K. Jallah.

Pro-Temp Chie said, Senator Cllr. Jallah being the newest member of the Liberian Senate, there is a need for Senators to render him all necessary assistance to adjust to life in the Legislature for the growth of the Senate and the Country at large.
