Safe drinking water will be pumped throughout several communities in Monrovia beginning Friday, February 5,2021, officials of the Liberia Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) have disclosed.
LWSC Managing Director Duanna Kamara said, the institution has repaired the sixteen pipeline which will start operating tomorrow while work is ongoing on 36 water pipelines.
He attribute the shortage of water supply to technical problems and outdated materials.
Speaking at MICAT Regular press briefing Thursday in Monrovia, Hon. Kamara said, most of the pipes through which the waters passes are all faulty and were built before 1980; are over due to be change which he attribute as root causes to halting water supply to residents.
He also added that the government and partners are putting in measures to change the old pipelines to distribute quality and clean drinking water to residents.
Hon. Duanna Kamara complained that some citizens are in the constant hobbit of dumping dirt in the sewerage line, emphasizing on the Waterside community area.
He also complained that some evil citizens remove the sewerage covers and sell them to scrap dealers.
Hon. Kamara appealed to all involved in the act to halt.
In another development, the LWSC boss also dismissed information that two of his staffs were let go due to strike of their salaries, but said they were dismissed due to misconduct towards him.
