(Buchanan) A  54-year-old man James Mardin, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging in Wee Statutory Electoral District four Grand Bassa County.

The incident occurred on Wednesday February 17, 2021 at the deceased residence in Gbaynee Town and his remains was discovered by some of his relatives.

Our correspondent gathered from the deceased relatives that he allegedly committed suicide because of what he termed as ‘persistent attacked by evil spirits’ after he had assured the religious community of his intervention to settle conflict between Christians and Muslims in the district.

However, officer Isaac S. Dueh of the Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police, reveals that a letter was discovered believed to be written by the deceased before committing the suicide.

Communication believed to come from the deceased

The CSD Officer quoted the deceased’s communication as saying, “no one should hold neither his wife nor children responsible for his death and that he committed the act after persistently tormented by “Evil Spirit” why doing God’s work by ensuring peace between Christians and Muslims.

The CSD Officer also added that the deceased mentioned in his communication that his corpse should not be embalmed but buried without delay.

However, Madam Baby Mardin, wife of the deceased, noted that she and her late husband were legally married with  12 children.

She wants the family members and authorities of the district to follow instructions of her late husband’s communication.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dueh has turned over the remains of the fallen clergyman to the family to be laid to rest.
